So i just got a porter cable polisher waxer highly recommended by many detailing websites so i went looking for a really good polish stumbled on zymol i remember buying it at walmart $10 or so. They have some high end looking wax someone talk me out or into they're outragous $50 for 8oz

there is alot and i mean ALOT of different waxes, if your looking for a polish i would go with meguiars M205 found on http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/m20512.html

For wax you could go with Collinite http://autogeek.net/collinite-super-doublecoat--wax-476.html

Or any over the counter wax you see at walmart like meguiars gold class wax, NXT 2.0 tech wax ( i use tech wax )

Another option for your paint is meguiars paint reconditioning cream

http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/d15112.html

It polishes your paint and adds a wax shine, basically its an all in one products and for the cost of a gallon it works out in the long run

Grats on the PC, did you get pads and a backing plate also? Orange and white?

Anyways, the Zymol wax at wally world is made by turtle wax, and it sucks [censored]. Smells good though.

Alot of companies misrepresent the word polish. Zaino uses it on their sealants, megs uses it for a glaze, and as you see you are assuming polish because the zymol wax from wally world is a cleaner wax.

I wouyldnt spend the $$ on the real zymol until you have clayed(above the surface contaniments), and polished(removed below surface defects) the paint. I have maybe 35 bottles of all sorts of different polishes, and to be honest, depending on what your paint looks like, i like 205 or scratchX 2.0 for you. If your finish is more neglected i would venture to say use the Ultimate Compound, but take it slow with this and check your work if you are using a PC. PM me if you need any help.

$50 for 8 oz outrageous? LOL. Isn't Zymol Solaris wax $30,000 (thirty thousand dollars)?

As has been said, the Zymol you find in stores is made by Turtle Wax and is comparable to other waxes in that price range.

You do not need to order a paint polish via the internet. You can find good polishes in stores. Look for Meguiars Swirl X or Mothers Power Polish. Both are formulated for orbital polishers like the PC and cost under $10. 3M swirl mark remover is a mild polish you can find at O'Reillys and Pep Boys.

If you need a polish with more "bite", get some Meguiars Ultimate Compound. Cost is about $8-10 at Walmart or any auto parts store.

I wouldn't waste a dime on any Zymol product but if you want a good store bought wax, look at Mothers FX Synwax, Mothers Reflections, or Meguiars #26 liquid or paste. Again, available at most any auto parts store.

I hope you picked up some foam polishing pads and a velcro backing plate. Those are things you will need if you want to get top results.

Yah i got like 5 pads varying "bite" and the 3" detail pads and backing plate too. I have a G35 dark blue i used the mothers clay bar which honestly didnt look like it did [censored] but i did the whole car followed by meg. ultimate compound and then put on a coat of meg. syn wax 2.0

I just seen the zymol stuff and never knew they made the designer waxes other than the stuff at walmart which i dont think they even sale anymore least here.

I just cant imagine someone spending 8-9K dollars a bottle or 30K for the solar powered wax kit they offer.. Even the $50/8oz stuff seems crazy high but if it lasted 2-3 yrs of use vs figure 3-4 bottles of various other products wouldnt be bad deal.

Zymol makes two levels of products, and inhouse line which ranges from $50 to ~$8000, and a consumer line which includes the blue wax and the zymol leather cleaner/conditioner.

The consumer line is made by turtle wax, to Zymol's specification. Which allows Zymol to tap into TW's extensive distribution network. Thus you see Zymol blue wax and Leather products at Target or Autozone.

My advice if you really want to outshine everyone is a three step process.

1. Wash and clay the car. Making sure to spot treat any areas that need it with bug and tar remover or lemon pledge (which makes a very good non-abrasive ersatz bug and tar remover).

2. Polish the paint, using Kit scratch out. ($5/14oz) KIT scratch out is a very gentle polishing compound which will clean up the paint and create a smooth surface for the wax. In the vast majority of cases you don't need anything more intensive than KIT scratch out (which is missnamed, as it is too mild to remove scratches).

3. Apply TW Ice paste wax and use the TW Ice QD spray to help buff off the wax using a microfiber towel.

He had a PC with an assortment of pads. The kit scratch out isnt designed for use with a RO, it may work, but there is better on the same shelf.

i used japon a long time ago....yes expensive as [censored] and NOT worth it. Zaino is good but for hand use. the only zymol i ever liked was the SUV bottle but they do not make it anymore---it was awesome... 3M finesse-it or perfect-it are what i use on swirls and scratches....then i use a good carnauba wax.
