i have a zerostart 1500 watt tankheater on my truck and it keeps the engine at 180 degrees when its 40 outside, any idea how it will do when its really cold out?
That's really warm for a block heater. I set up Kim Hotstarts to come on at 80 and go off at 100. Any hotter and you melt the film of oil off your cylinder walls and you get dry starts.
The Zerostarts heat the coolant so I really doubt the heatsoak will effect the oil film especially on the cylinder walls, specifically when it's colder out. No reason to use a block heater above freezing anyway.
