If you had our choice to build the perfect product "oil additive" for older cars, what would it be? ZDDP level, etc.

I think it would be like Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment (VSOT), but not thick like VSOT which was about 100cST. Rather like VSOT (old formula with all the goodies including zddp, in case they have neutered it lately) but about 15 or 20 cSt.

Other than that, a concentrated Redline formulation in an ester base would be nice and I heard Redline is considering making an additive.

I really like the Compcams oil additive - I have asked the question what if you used it in a late model engine with a synthetic oil and cat's?

I know you are all going to jump and say NOOO it's got to much Phos and that will reck your cat's.

I wanted to know what actually does happen when people say that, is it just that the cat's become less effective or do they get blocked up and limit flow? Whats the truth here?

""what would it be? ZDDP level, etc.""

Short answer to above most all PCMO's have arounf 1% of ZDDP in them works out to around 1000-1300ppm Zinc.
