Your Vehicle is listening

I assume that anything I put in my phone, PC, wherever is already public domain, as it needs to go through an ISP and public connections. I am still interested to see if supreme court takes this one up as I am curios.

Another interesting fact is it appears the attacks in gaza were all co-ordinated using messengers, hence intelligence didn't have any prior warning - so they say. I wonder if were relying too much on this new technology to save us ?

What are people texting, that it would matter if someone was to read it?
Tasteless memes and bad jokes are the worst thing on my phone.
Fair enough point, but freedom means being free from such intrusions. If it can be collected it can be hacked by a bad actor and then that person or organization can do all kinds of stuff with those texts…

This. The two things aren’t opposed. You shouldn’t have to worry about people using your private info, but ultimately it falls on us as individuals to take all the precautions we can.

You all do remember that giant call center the government built to listen to your phone if they want tooooo....there is nothing new under the sun....................lol

Ever talk about something with your wife or friend and then get a face book notification about the item you were just talking about? Yes? AI is learning and listening. Sound scary? You decide. I can't convince you one way or the other. AI knows more about you than you know or can remember, yourself. Period

You say this to/of a population made up of people who don't know how to prime and paint a fencepost.

They track everything
They have buttons to push which freeze your credit cards and/or lock up your bank account(s).
They have data banks which give them instant identification of anyone's neighbors and relatives.
They automatically read and process every vehicle's number plate.

"But it's OK....I still have my guns. They can't take me." Pathetically naive, if you ask me.

Before I retired I worked on a project for Australia's equivalent of America's Homeland Security Department. You have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what's going on behind the scenes!

The things Australia was doing with telephone data made us shiver with the reality of it all. Their tracking system identified all phone communication people had with each other within the country - in REAL TIME (this required massive systems with massive amounts of physical memory and massive semiconductor I/O systems)!

Their tracking system also tracked ALL incoming and outgoing calls into Australia. Suppose you lived in a foreign country and called a hotel in Australia to book a reservation. Their system would log your number, and if the foreign nation agreed to cooperate and share its own phone data, Australia's tracking system would identify all the phone numbers that "touched" the number making the hotel reservation.

But it doesn't stop there. Say your son called Australia for the hotel reservation. You, being the parent, you are linked to his phone.

But it doesn't stop there. All numbers connected to the parent's phone get tracked as well. And all numbers for the parent's friends got tracked, to their contacts, then to their contacts, then to their contacts, and so on and so on.

Basically, the tracking system was a gigantic upside down pyramid that was theoretically capable of identifying relationships for EVERY PHONE NUMBER ON THE PLANET.

Be scared, be very scared.

Scott
Yes and you are part of 5 Eyes and share it with 4 other countries.

Couldn't you just pull the fuse that powers the "cell connection" inside the car?
You should know by owning a 2023 Chevrolet it's all integrated. Doing one thing likely causes numerous problems. Everything goes through a CAN BUS/ECU system.

In an automotive CAN bus system, ECUs can e.g. be the engine control unit, airbags, audio system etc. A modern car may have up to 70 ECUs - and each of them may have information that needs to be shared with other parts of the network.

Yes with AI they can put your picture, info where it doesn’t belong. If you run for a public office, watch out.

They can take one of us at a time, but I don't know if they could take us all at once without starting another civil war and ending up as rulers of a wasteland. If they kill all of us there'll be nobody left to tax and no information to steal.

I don't think anyone will do anything about the listening anytime soon though, and it's unlikely all the gun owners would be able to put on a coordinated attack. But they did it once before...

Maybe this is too political

I do the same depending on where I'm going. I see a lot of people who use their phone like some kind of life support system. I'd be willing to bet if the phone was taken away from them they might go through some kind of withdrawal.
It’s a handy tool when you need it about it. I notice some people have to carry guns or knives too as if their life depended on it. Just the way people are. Knives are at least useful when you need to open something!
