Not to go off topic, but I see AAP has their own House Brand Synthetic Oil. Anyone know who bottles it? Or anything else about it for that matter. I think it was around $4.89 a quart.

does that include their high mileage oil ? Its still rated SM so how much zddp/zinc is that ?

The maxlife blend and full synthetic oils are rated for GF-4 (and i think they may be GF-5 now), so this limits zinc/phosphorus.
A lot of people think SM is where the limits came into play, when it actually happened in the transition from GF-3 to GF-4.

I'm not sure where he got that idea, though I guess it depends on what viscosity he is using, but Synpower's GF-4 add packs generally look rather...tame.

And yet, it performs great. I doubt anyone here truly knows what additives Valvoline actually uses.

I think Warren bottles AAP house oil. They bought Coastal who was making it before.
