I replaced the GoodYear junk that came on my truck at 30k miles. I tried rotating and even had them siped. When I sold them they had a lot of tread but were losing their performance. I went with B.F.Goodrich as I haven't found a better tire.

As far as what tire, he is open about that right now. He's not even sure if he wants a higher milage tire or not. (he kinda sounds like me and my Cavalier)

I'd go with whatever fits his Balt at this point....

Dave, I replaced the originals with a set of Kumho Solus KH16s on my 2007 Cobalt. I bought the set on eBay shipped to the door for ~$240. My usual Cooper guy installed them for me for $60. A full set of Coopers would have been over $400 out the door. I liked the Solus KH16s. They were quiet and smooth, but I only put about 1000mi on them before I traded the Cobalt off for the Santa Fe.

Joel- I've heard pretty good things about the Solus family (both the KH16 and KH21), and I should mention those as well. I've got Sumi HTR T4s on my Balt, which are okay.
