YB, Mobil 5k or QS GB....

Well after more thought I don't think I'll be running a syn oil in my '07 4cyl Honda. Money is tight as a drum right now and the whole reason I got into a used 40k Honda was econo reasons. But that doesn't mean I don't take good care of my equipment and cars. I've narrowed my choices down to:

Pennzoil 5w20 conventional. 5qts for $11.50

Mobil 5000 5w-20. 5qts for $11.00

Quaker state Green Bottle 5w-20. 5qts for $10.50. (iffy about this one)

Really on the fence between the Mobil 5000 and Pennzoil conventional. QS is an option, but I'm not totaly sure. I can't even pull information on the oil from their website. I'm going to follow the Honda Oil Life Meter, which according to the book is based on Conventional 5w-20 oil. So I think the OCI's will be in the area of 7,500-8,500 based on how easy I drive it. I've got about 2,600 on it right now and the meter just clicked to 70%. Opinions?

Get the Pennzoil and use this rebate to get $5 back from them. Or step up to PP and get $15 back.

I like all of them...QS would be just fine. Family runs in their cars with no issues. Wouldn't think twice about using it.


I've had great luck with the MC though....that would be my choice for you.

QS probably isn't all that different than YB...

I think Motorcraft syn-blend 5W-20 might also be a good choice...

I'd use any of them or even MC blend but I wouldn't exceed 7.5K on an OCI. Pennzoil conventional would be my first choice.

Call me crazy but I wouldnt be putting 7,500 -8,500 on dino.

All 3 are decent oils. Why not use coupons, rebates, and BOGO offers and buy a synthetic and go 7,500 with it?

I have 40+ quarts of oil in my garage all synthetic (PP, Q-HP, Valvoline, Castrol) and I didnt pay over $2 a quart. The deals are out there, find them and stock up!

According to the Honda owner's manual, the OLM is based on using a quality conventional oil and it compensates for driving, temps, load etc. So... according to honda, if my OLM says I can run up to 8k on Dino, well guess you can.

I didn't know about all these rebates. that would be great to start stocking up on Pennzoil Platinum 5w20. That would be my first choice money aside, or Mobil 1 5w20.

**EDIT** Dude, nice rebate form. Does it apply to the 5qt Jug at Wal-mart? B/c I think they want you to buy quarts only? Please let me know ASAP!

Thanks to Hate2Work for the coupon. I had been hearing about it, now I can take advantage. I only use Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 in my Mustang anyway.

I've used the MC Syn Blend 5w-20 in our Hondas for years. 5k OCI's no problem. $11 or so at Walmart. Great oil!

Forgot about MC 5-20, also another option. But I'm going to Walmart to get a 5qt jug of PP and use the rebate... doesn't say on the coupon not valid for 5qt jugs, just says you gotta buy 5qts.

There is another thread on here where a guy called and customer service told hime that "yes, 5qt jugs are eligible".
