Just to keep the fun with the Yay! series of posts going, here's a shot of our new 2010 Focus S bought new last weekend.

We traded/recycled two older 1990's cars for it - I figure the reduced cost of maintenance and repairs will pay for the Focus in about 3 years.

Like all black cars, they look best either clean or wet, so today's weather made this easy:

Just kidding.
I never paid attention to the Focus untill my daughter wanted one. She worked and saved enough $$$ to buy a used one. We looked at the used ones . But with all the discounts and rebates I told her I would pay the difference for a new one. I ended up telling her to just save her $$$ for college. They are really nice cars for the $$$ and considering the reliability ratings they are an excellent value as well.

I hope you have better luck with black than my brother did. Here in Pittsburgh PA he had a black GM car and it got hit 8 times in 7 years. Sometimes it was hit while he was in it, and sometimes when it was parked. One time a vehicle came over against his when they changed lanes not seeing him, and he was beside them, he saw it coming but had no where to go.

When he got rid of it he said he will never own another black car.

I've had black cars for years and so has my wife, and we've been relatively accident-free. The car that has the most "collision-appeal" in my memory was green. It was like it was camouflaged or invisible. Just kept getting hit!

We shopped for a replacement for the two older vehicles on a very simple basis: safety and low cost. I looked for months before we made a decision, and went through endless comparisons online. We started on the assumption that a Toyota would be a good call. Too expensive for what you get. We looked at Honda, and came to the same conclusion. We'd had a GM last year as a rental in Hawaii and liked it a lot. But in the end, nothing had the value proposition of the base-model Focus: Six airbags, traction control, stability control, ABS, air conditioning and an automatic transmission for a price that was at least $2,000 less than anything else out there.

We got it for the kids to get to university, and for the moment only one of them's in town. He wasn't thrilled with the styling (his best friend has a Mini) but he's put 350 miles on it in the last week, so there's no doubt he likes driving it! I've driven it a couple of times and it's really well put together. Well done Ford!

I always thought that this specific generation of Focus is the ugliest while first gen ZX3 was nice. I don't get the cosmetic appeal of this design.

Opposite for me. I think they have been getting better with age.

Yay -- more Foci!

I hate it too, looks like they weren't sure what to do to the back end and just went. Poof.. done. It also sits as high as a truck, and has no backseat space at all.

Wait, you are complaining about it having a higher seating position than a normal car? How is that a bad thing? I like the higher seating position than my cavalier had, I always felt like my butt should be dragging on the ground when driving that thing.
