Yamalube 2s or 2r

Does either of the two have better/worse lubricating properties over the other? Or is just price? Will my 2001 Ski-Doo 600 be happy with Yamalube 2r premix if I ditch the oil injector?

I doubt that the engine would notice a difference in which oil you use.

If your engine is carbureted however, what will make difference is your jetting. Going to premix isn't simply removing the pump and mixing up a batch of fuel.

I have lots of experience with vintage two cycle motorcycles and know that when one takes off the pump, carb jetting must be reviewed. I haven't switched from the pump on my machines because they're very reliable and convenient. However, I have read accounts of those who've done it and they advise that re-jetting is required.

Rejetting all depends on how the oil injector oil is routed in. I have Polaris's and on some its routed in on the intake side of the carb and no re-jetting required. On some it is routed into the carb, re-jetting would not be nessecary if you plug the holes off. If anything you would get a richer fuel mixture. I would worry about re jetting unless it became a problem. I used 2R for years, the engines were super clean at tear down cleaner than with any other oil , even Belray. I have no experience with 2S. I ran the 2R at 40:1.

If the pump is removed to go premix, I'd run it and do at least one plug chop to ensure jetting is OK. Depending on how hard the machine is run, jetting could be critical.

Around here, snowmobiles aren't ridden like ATVs. Seldom does an ATV have mile after mile of smooth flat surface to keep the throttle pegged to 100+ mph like a snowmobile on a big lake.

Snow machines are often pressed very hard and spend a great deal of time in the upper rpm range. Cooking pistons and cylinders is a very common problem with snow machines that are pushed long and hard. I'd certainly be keeping an eye on the jetting.
