I bought a new to me boat that has a Yamaha outboard with a jet foot.........the previous owner had a guy from out of town do the service on the boat and he didn't know much about maintenance.

I have different opinions on the jet foot. Some say lube after each use, some say every 10 hours. .......I have been told use Red and Tacky grease and others say the Blue-Green Marine trailer grease.
Also, a lithium complex grease or calcium sulfonate ??

Does any one have experience with these?

Hi mate,
I don't have any experience with marine engine and greases, but did a quick search for you.

Here is the owner's manual for Yamaha F150 engine:
- page 47 and 48 cover Maintenance
- page 49 displays the greasing points
https://outboards.yamaha-owners-manuals.com/om/LIT-18626-06-77.pdf
On page 47 is stated that greasing points should be done every 100 hours or 6 months.

The OEM grease is called Yamalube Marine Gearcase Lube. I would get it if is not that much expensive than any generic one (scroll down the page below).
Specially formulated Marine GL-4 gearcase lube loaded with rust and corrosion inhibitors. Protects from the extreme pressures of high speed for extended periods of time. For use in all outboard lower units (except V8 F300-F350, V6 V MAX SHO® 200-250, 4.2L/4.3L V6 Offshore and XTO Offshore®).

This is how it looks like:

All Yamalube marine grease products. You can find them on eBay and Amazon as well.

If the Yamalube marine grease is too expensive for you, I would get any other generic marine grease which is API GL-4 and is water resistant. I definitely wouldn't get Red and Tacky grease.

I appreciate your effort......but you are showing for a regular lower unit with a propeller. My outboard has a jet foot on it.
