Xact spark plug wires - good or bad?

I did search here and on Bing/Google, did not find much info. I need new plug wires for the Dodge Dakota in my signature, and I am shopping around online. I normally use Belden Premium from Napa but due to the Christmas holidays and other expenses right now I am on a bit of a budget. How is the quality on the Xact wires they sell at AAP? Are the Duralast wires about the same, anyone have any input on the quality of lesser expensive and store brand plug wires?

I am just considering cheaper wires here, trying to get info on the lower cost wires. If they are terrible quality I will just spring for another set of Beldens or possibly go with Autolite. I appreciate any info.

Unless you have an obvious problem with the Belden wires, save your money. If you're convinced they need replaced, save up for them, or investigate the current wire's warranty. Some of the blue Belden wires have "Wired for life" on them... Lifetime warranty?

The Xact Fit wires are cheap and made cheap. Unless there is an obvious problem with your current wires, I'd wait and get a premium brand that will last. OE wires these days are usually god for at least 100K, and more like 150K to 200K if you actually test them and the connectors stay in tact through multiple plug changes.

If your dead set on getting new ones, I'd go with NGK as they are the supplier of many OEM wires/plugs, to include AC Delco I think.

Prestolite made the Mopar OEMs for your truck,Prestolite sells the same aftermarket without the Mopar written on it.As good as any wires.

The OE wires on my Dakota are still in place and an ohmmeter showed they were fine!

Thanks, I will just get the Autolite wires and use a discount code. The wires I have now are Belden and may be damaged due to an oil leak from a leaking valve cover gasket. I doubt Napa would warranty them. My oe wires are long gone and I am replacing the Belden wires and spark plugs as a preventive measure when I replace the vc gaskets. I had a misfire and rough idle no start problem a few days ago.

The Autolite wires should be fine. They seem to be a good midgrade choice. I have used them before without issue. Probably much better than AAP cheapos.

I put in my new plugs and Autolite Professional wires today. The wires are excellent quality, have a nice thick jacket and the plug boots were thicker material and seemed to be a little better than the Belden wires I had before. Each wire was exactly the right length. The Autolites are made in the USA too. I saved some money on them, regular price at AAP was $33.99, I used a discount code on my entire purchase so they took off $12.83 on the wire set and I also found a $10.00 Autolite MIR on the Autolite web site so the final price of the wire set was only $11.16.

When Dad's Lexus ES300 needed plug wires, we got XAct, and the wires were all marked by the same company that made the OEM wires. I can't remember if it was Yazaki or Sumitomo, but it was definitely an OE supplier.

But who really knows what you get when you buy low price spark plug wires?
