wrench size for caliper

I tried to remove the caliper on my 2001 Jeep Cherokee and am almost sure it was a 18mm which I did not have. I looked at the various sets of wrenches that HF sells and none include a 18mm. Could this possibly be SAE since I only tried metric but the whole Jeep seems to be metric.

I have found other sizes missing from HF sets like the size to remove the blades from a JD tractor. When I bought the more complete set it had the impact socket I needed.

Probably an 18mm,you can grab a 18mm impact socket from sears for cheap.Try a 3/4" 6 point,if it feels sloppy don't use it.

No it's 18mm for caliper bracket.

HF wrench sets aren't the greatest. They have most of the sizes I'll use, never all.

Will a socket fit? My HF color-coded deep socket set has 10 through 19mm sockets. Handy as anything, that set.

you have to watch some of the cheaper tools. I use some harbor freight tools, but items like sockets seem to have looser tolerances. Craftsman sockets and endwrenches seem to fit tighter with less chance of rounding off or slipping of bolts. I've busted plenty of knuckles with the cheap wrenches to learn that.

I ran into the same problem recently. Over the years I've accumulated a number of metric socket sets, most of them Craftsman. Few have the 18 mm socket. It seems that the sizes jump after around 15 mm. Luckily, I have one 18 mm that I found.

I have a snap on long 18mm that i have used once on the focus, and a 6 and 12 point craftsman 18mm that I used the 6 point once on the silverado for front brakes. Had to purchase them individually.
