Those are whitetailed deer, which are more common in NY than CA.

I saw a guy take a BMW 740 up a gnarly road west of Fairplay CO, deep in the rockies. There's two stream crossings with steep approach angles out that require good ground clearance. How he got that thing up there is still beyond me to this day. He had to have scraped the belly of that puppy really really bad!

The more I look at this photo, the more I think it's fake.

btw, you can see the reflection of the deers' antlers on the windshield...wonder if anyone would go into that much trouble to fake...who knows?
