Would you buy a Suzuki SX4?

Keep us updated on your decision . The 2 I drove were fun to test drive . Easy shifting and clutch engagement . The 6 speed manual and C.V.T. seemed to had same ease of coasting on downgrades .

I wouldn't buy the CVT but the 6 speed manual with the AWD center locking would be quite handy is poor weather, its a mechanical system not electronic. Suzuki makes solid stuff! The older Vitara or the gets are nice 4x4's

Drove the SX4 ( 2014 ? ) wagon with the 6 speed manual and C.V.T. . Liked the room and handled well . They were rated terrible for crash tests . Do see them on occasion and think should of purchased one . Last , the oil filter is hard to get to and messy .

If you go to fuelly.com and go to SUZUKI then click SX4 and you'll see SX4s' with high mileage and decent gas mileage .
I can’t willingly buy vehicles that rate bad in crash tests.

A bad crash test is relative thing, we are talking about a $4000 car, a small car, all small cars rate bad in crash test. and small is relative to speed and what you are crashing into or what is crashing into you. If you get hit by a full cement truck at 50 mph it's not going well, does not matter what your crash rating is. A car crash is the #1 way to be killed up to age 45. I ride motorcycles so maybe I look a it differently.

Hehe true. I used to ride and also owned a Miata. The Miata was small (and excellent) but immensely more steel than the Honda CB. I get what you are saying.

I do like the Suzuki brand in general - shoulda bought that grand vitara when it was available.

Great little car, but parts availability will be an issue. My body shop was telling me how they almost had to total one because they couldn't find a bumper for it.
If you track the remaining ones in junkyards and stock up, or if you have contacts in Europe (the Euro ones were built in Hungary, and they were also sold as Subarus there at some point) - it might be fun. $4k is a bit steep in my book though.
