Using Supertech oil filters on my 2003 Sliverado and 2002 LS1 Camaro then the Wix/Napa Golds's I have been using? Do Supertech's flow/filter as good or better then the Napa Golds's? Cost is no concern, $1.90 for ST $5.99 for NG, this aside what is the better oil filter?
 
I don't think you could go wrong using either, although I'm a Wix/Napa Gold user myself. I like the way they are assembled and the valves they use, ect. Napa Gold (newer ones at least) also use a silicon ADBV and some sort of a fibreglass-impregnated filtration media. Not sure on the SuperTechs there, but they can't be bad filters either. If price was no object though, I'd keep using Napa Golds.

I don't know much about gen 3 (LS-1) engines, but gen 1 and 2 SBC's have the bypass valve in the block so the bypass valve doesn't apply to the filters. The filters on those engines are mounted straight up, so I don't think that the material used for the ADBV matters very much either (if at all....or even having one really matters

). The ST and WIX (NAPA gold) filters seem to have about the same filtration efficiency, although Bob's flow tests seem to show that the ST might flow better (STP and ST are supposedly identical). So I would imagine that it might come down to price or drain intervals. The wix filters supposedly have very good dirt holding capacity.

The gen 3 engines also have the bypass in the block too. I believe all GM engines are built this way actually. It's very smart!

No doubt. I'd much rather depend on a ball and spring somewhere inside the engine than the stamped POS we've seen in a lot of the filters people have cut apart...
 
The only thing that bothers me is that nobody seems to know what the bypass setting is in these GM engines. Even people I know who have the service manuals haven't been able to give me this info (maybe they don't know what they're looking for in the book?)
