Checked the website...11.3L AEC (my bad, was sure that they were Commer)
 
Sounded like a 2 stroke when it took off, but listening again, certainly not as it went around the corner. Anyway, AEC is still good...love those old English diesels. All the machines in Thunderbirds were powered by them....
