World of Frams

[Audioquest]

I live in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. It seems that we may have the worst selection of oil filters in the world!

Walmart now only carries Fram, Fram Toughgaurd, Fram Doublegaurd and Defense (Fram). They dropped AC Delco.

Canadian Tire only carries Fram - Motomaster (Fram Extraguard), Motomaster F1 (Fram Toughgaurd), Fram X2, Quaker State (Fram Extra).

CT dropped Bosch a few years ago, but does carry K&N. Spend $17.00 on an oil filter? I don't think so!

What happened to Purolator?

AC-delco pulled out of a lot of places a couple years ago. Purolators are hard to find, Pep boys carries them, and in the midwest Fleet Farm carries their oil filters. NAPA and Car Quest sell Wix filters, if you have them. Auto Zone carries ACs, Bosch and STP, all champions.

Yes it's hard to find non-Fram filters everywhere. Does anyone else have a marketing team, or is Fram using some monopolistic practices?

Try Carquest or Napa. Carquest brand filters are actually Wix - http://www.carquest.com/filters.html , but I'm not sure about the Napa. Go with the Carquest Premium Blue or the Napa Gold. Not sure about the price, though.

Napa Gold or HomeHardware sells Purolater Premium Plus filters.If you want to buy a "flat" of filters go to the G.M dealer or Ford dealer or even Mopar and get a "flat" of filters..if you know someone that works at one of the big three they can get you a 10-15% discount on parts if they tag along with you when you buy them...lots of choices

Fram must have a really low wholesale price to command this type of shelf space. The profit margin to the retailer says it all.

Thats because it doesn't cost a whole lot to make a Fram....Not alot of 'expensive' parts in it....

Despite everything said here about Fram, they seems to do the job well. You can't be everywhere and causing problem without being put under the spot right away.

Also,some study here showed that the filter is almost useless , yes you can get a so called better filter for about the same money, but I wouldn't make a detour to get one.
