When I went up Mt. Washington it was in a rented Taurus circa 2003 with the Vulcan V6 and four people. I don't recall the car having that hard of a time with it going up or down. If it was an everyday thing, you might have issues, but generally cars make that trip once so it isn't pushing their limits that much.
