To bad the Cruze doesn't have an egt gauge it would have been interesting to see how high the temps got.

I grew up near Mt Washington and hiked/skied it every year in high school.
I've had some discussions with Lance Smith (owner of Vermont Sports Cars) back when I used to work the Maine Forest Rallies, and he used to be 'crew chief' (later a co-driver) for Carl Merrill's MWM prepped Escort Cossie RS.
COOL dude, and most definitely knew his stuff.

When I went up Mt. Washington it was in a rented Taurus circa 2003 with the Vulcan V6 and four people. I don't recall the car having that hard of a time with it going up or down. If it was an everyday thing, you might have issues, but generally cars make that trip once so it isn't pushing their limits that much.

I took a trip to Colorado in my Spitfire 1500 years ago.
The trip over Raton pass, something like 8000 ft, was a little dicey on the already underpowered little roadster.
The Cruze is a heavier car and has a smaller engine and I wouldn't have sweated a bit in a Cruze
