2009 Honda Fit Cabin Air Filter. Wix #49101, Made in South Korea

Dear Wix,

Your product quality leaves a lot to be desired. Here are my complaints:

1) The media quality of the cabin air filter pictured above is rather disappointing, especially considering its $22 price tag. The media lacks the thickness and heft of the Genuine Honda part-- and the Genuine Honda part is cheaper than yours!

2) The Genuine Honda filter does not need columns of glue to hold the filter together. This is possibly because the Genuine Honda part does not use near paper thin media!

3) This isn't the first time I have received a bum Wix product. The engine air filter for my Saturn, while it did seal, did not fill up my entire air box like the Fram part did. It was a bit too small. And also, the 51348 size oil filters I use seem to be larger than everyone else's-- why is that?

So, please correct your product quality. Your market premium filters and charge very premium prices for them, yet I receive third-world quality parts.

Country of manufacture? And I'm starting to be even more glad I went with a MANN filter, Ijust pulled it out today to look and it's in perfect condition, not at all like the Puro....

If you don't like our products then don't buy another one. If you did not like our expensive engine air filter then why you buy our expensive cabin air filter ?

As you see, our filters do not lasted very long, we design our filters that way so that we can sell more.

I actually ordered about $80 worth of Wix filters back in 2008. The oil filters and engine air filters were from the same order at the time. The Honda Fit Cabin Air Filter is my first Wix purchase in a while. I decided to give them another chance.

That's amazing. I think people just assume OEM parts are more expensive.

I wouldn't put that on the end of a cigarette.

I actually had a Wix cabin filter fail(collapsed) in an 05' Corolla. No quams with the oil filters but no more cabin filters from them.

I like their fuel filters, just purchased one for my 2001 focus and it was gasp, made in USA and fit perfectly. The ones I use on my Sierra are chinese but quality and fit well too.

I find that the Air filters, cabin or engine, from wix are very poor, either too small or too big. I have better luck with STP or FRAM.

Oil filters they are too expensive and are starting to get made in third world countries.

The Honda OE filter I have (80292TF0G01) actually has the glue beads on it. Perhaps Honda has removed the beads from this filter since my purchase.

I think Walmart has Fram with better quality cheaper filter than this.

I've always dicussed with you that if it is Honda a "Made in Japan" part/product, BUY IT!

I am not happy with my Wix "Made in America" AF for my 08 5.3L Silverado. I have used two OE AC/Delco before the Wix and I am certain this filter has changed idle behavior when cold and overall shift behavior. The filter my in fact be too restrictive.

Interesting, a Wix AF on my old Titan cut way down on silicon ingestion as shown in UOA. Maybe it is more restrictive.

I bought a Wix cabin filter for my mom's Honda and I too notice that the media is VERY thin.

I'm sure they did it for air flow, but it feels very flimsy

Think most will agree that the engine air filter is good but, the cabin air filter may not be that great.

Cabin filter TYC for 2009 Fit can be purchased at logical-source.com for $7.88. The quality is not as good as Honda OEM, but for 60% less, it can be replace at half the time and still filter the dust as good or better.

Here is a new Genuine Honda cabin air filter in comparison. If you notice, the gluing is done much more neatly and the media is thicker.

Only $19.92 for this filter. The Wix one was $22+.

Here is the old one as a comparison. 36k and 21 months old:

I can't run Wix air filters in the Jetta...the seal is too fat and won't allow the airbox lid to close completely. Other filters fit just fine, so it is a Wix issue in my case. I use Purolator air filters exclusively now.
