Thanks for sharing. What is the oil change history?
I didn’t keep records for it. We had it since it was a new vehicle. Oil brands economy brands, Supertech and Kirkland. Early in the beginning, started with conventional oil since synthetics at the time were at a premium, and the RAV4 LE was not a premium suv. Then I moved to Syn or syn-blends when conventional was phasing out. Same economy brands.

After joining bitog is when I moved to Mobil 1 Truck and SUV one time, now to Valvoline Restore and Protect.

Prior to 100k, always had the oil burning issue. Now I have a timing cover leakage. No oil is going to fix a physical leak, or a bad engine design.

Small clarification on the oil consumption statement. I don’t recall exactly when I was keenly aware, just that it was between 50k to 100k. That’s why I wrote “prior to 100k.”

Let's see what Valvoline Restore and Protect does!
Follow along my Valvoline Restore and Protect journey here. This is the last post, you can hit the quote and it will take you up. Thanks.

Try the RTV trick and also check your PCV!
I changed out the PCV. Someone did mention the RTV hack as well.

@ZeeOSix hillbilly fix.
How bad is it leaking? If you can find the spot it's leaking from, could do a Hillbilly fix by putting some high temp RTV sealant on the seam after cleaning it up real well. I've done that trick and it will work if the leak isn't huge, and it shouldn't be under any pressure if it's on the timing chain cover.

I was about to blame the Warren oils but I see you have the 2AZ-FE, so it's the engine not the oils I think. If you can get the oil burning to clean up with the Valvoline Restore and Protect, that would be a huge win.
