Here's my setup. I have comcast broadband going through to a motorola cable modem. have the ethernet cable from the cable modem to the linkys voip phone router to my wireless router to my computer. So basically...
Cable modem ->linkys voip router->wireless router->desktop. all connectted with Ethernet cable. Everything works. Here's the kicker, I notice with this site and firefox. It will load forever. The forum loads, but when you go to each topic in a subforum, it won't load for some reason. I thought it was this site. But I have the same problem with windows live hotmail and firefox. I did a broadband speed test right now. I'm running 14770 download, 1360 upload courtesy of speedtest.net. So it's not the speed. Internet explorer works fine. I have a "good" wireless connection with Windows xp. I thought maybe it was interference from my 2.4 Ghz cordless phone that was within two feet of my wireless router. But my network is also WPA protected and not WEP protected. does anyone think maybe the higher encryption is what doing this? I hate to downgrade to WEP protection instead. But I rather use firefox for this site instead of internet explorer. oh, I'm not using a splitter in my setup. any ideas? Thanks

This site times out on me about 3 times per hour and I have to push refresh on the browser to make it load again. Only web site that does this to me. Happens with IE6, IE7, Firefox, Opera, etc. There is a site connectivity problem I'm convinced.

I never had a problem with this site the past five years except scheduled downtime for this site with just cable modem and voip routers. but this just started when I connected my wireless network. has to be something. it just did it with internet explorer five minutes ago and I had to come back.

Cutehumor,

I think you have an interaction between the two routers. I'd suggest that you call Linksys tech support and ask for help in configuring them to work together.

What does it do when you plug in with a wired connection? If that works then you have some interference issues with the wireless, if you still have problems then it is a configuration issue between both routers. Do other sites work fine? Is the problem only with this site?

I suggest changing the MTU to 1300 on your wireless router.

My settings in the MTU is 1500. it won't go any higher than 1500

with a wired connection, I had no problems for five years. so far, I have found this site and windows live hotmail do it. but not all the time though. I say 50% of the time using either firefox or internet explorer. I pointed my 2.4 ghz cordless phone antenna downward instead of straight up and I moved the voip phone router (which was sitting on top of my wireless router) away. I asked my wife if she has had any problems with some websites since I hooked up the wireless router last weekened. She said that the local newspapers (the Tennessean) she reads online will take along time to load. oh yeah, now that I think about it, it must be INTERFERENCE. When I first hooked up my wireless internet, I didn't have voip phone service for 4 days while I worked because I didn't have an extra ethernet cable to hook it up. The wireless router and all websites worked flawlessly for those 4 days. Especially this one because I come to this site everyday. so last weekend I had Cable modem -> wireless router ->to computer
I threw in the voip router in the mix to a 2.4Ghz cordless phone. I wonder if I change the order of the routers would make a difference? I'll try and see.

You don't want higher, you want lower. Try 1400, reboot the router, then 1300....

I switched mine to 1300 eons ago after running into websites such as eBay where the timeouts and sputtering were just too much to take.

Your problem is interference, not the MTU settings. Your wireless router and phone are both running at 2.4GHz. Get a 5.8GHz phone and your problem will be solved. Also try upgrading firmware in the routers as sometimes they improve algorithms to help with interference. I would also move the router as far away from the wireless router as possible.
