I have had 3 sets of these tires all on civics. They are cheap, all around 60-70 bucks and will get you through a foot of snow, no joke. They are horrible in the summer and dry pavement, it gives you a floating feeling but when there is snow on the ground you will get through snow better than a 4x4. This winter i even ordered studded ones to see how much better they can get

Firestone makes them.

I have Winterforce tires on 3 of my vehicles. Have been using them for years and I am very happy with them. Best bang for the buck snowtire out right now IMO.

Winter Tires: I have used many brands of winter tires, they are all hugely superior to summer tires, or to the old "snow tires" that were widely sold.

With a 30 mile daily interstate commute, a veteran of 35 years of mountain ski trips....

Beware of sheet ice: twice nothing (traction) is still terrifying.

Interstate snowpack: Ice tires make it seem like maybe a gravel road, while the cars around you are sliding around wildly.

Sleet: wow, you will love this!! While hard summer tires think this stuff is ice, the true ice tires see the gritty finish and convert it to almost concrete!! A long hill into the parking lot at a major ski area had lots of 4wd vehicles sliding back down, sleet was pelting us at the time. Our trusty RWD wagon (well balanced, 4 cyl up front, luggage in the back) stopped half way up the hill to let an Explorer back down, then we started out crisply and proceeded up the hill to the lot. A couple of the more curious (better students) 4wd owners came to inspect the tires used!!!

Currently using (2008 Corolla commuter car) Michelin Xi2's, Consumers Reports and Tire Racks tire test winner.

For those wishing to pay much less, I suspect the Firestones will still amaze you!!!

I've had a set of them on my Corolla for 4 years now and they do VERY well. And trust me I see serious snow (depth) and ice around here on my long commute.

Recommend!

I'd take a Firestone tire over a Michelin tire anyday since I've had 2 sets dry rot within 3 years.

Being able to take a normal pen and poke a hole into the sidewall when inflated really shows the good quality.

I just bought a brand new set of winterforces for my subaru. This is the first set of snow tires I've ever bought so I'll be looking forward to the first good snow dump! (then winter can disappear forever...)

I have them on my Yaris, they are great. They are actually a bridgestone blizzak variation, Asian Origin IIRC? Nice ride, not too noisy, good steering stability. Just took off the summer Yokahomas and the snow tires slaughter the Yoks (though they were just AVIDs). Another great All round tire for low $$ is the pirelli P4 - slaughtered the Toyos on our Rav4 - never new a toyota would handle and ride this good.

I agree actually.. Michelin is overrated poo. I've had a few sets. Lackluster at best.

I almost bought a dedicated set for my Subaru but ended up getting a set of Triple Treads which have been VERY impressive.

I just wanted to stay with a single set of tires for it...

(Got lucky!)

You'll be happy with the Winterforce and Subaru mix!

Take care, Bill

they are a great tire.. I wouldn't say best. but you are of course entitled to your opinion.

they are a very cost effective snow tire.

from a price/performance standpoint.

and only people who don't run snow tires compare any all-season to a snow tire.

I've never had that feeling with studs. The warmer and more slippery it gets, the better they dig. Very predictable.
