Windows Service Pack 3 Update

I'm running Win XP - Home Edition - Version 2002 - Service Pack 2.
Each time I boot the computer it prompts me to upgrade to Service Pack 3.
Should I do this or leave well enough alone?

I run XP on my office PC. I update every time Windows tells me I should. I've had no problems. I'd update.

Just checked my update history. Installed XP service pack 3 on 12/11. I have an old Compaq desktop 2.5 Ghz Celeron, and I've noticed no difference in performance, meaning no slower.

Also installed on Toshiba notebook with no issues.

Hoping to keep both running because I don't want to switch to Vista. Just used to XP.

I just updated to SP3, but then started having problems w/ IE7, which I guess is part of it. I'm playing w/ firefox3 right now, it's a bit faster and I'm getting used to it.

while their are updates such as IE7, Service Packs address other items like bugs and security vulnerabilities. I personally would upgrade to get any security patches that are included in it

Thankx. Just finished the Service Pack 3 download and updates and all went well with zero issues.

I quit using IE and only use Firefox browser. Never any issues with Firefox.

You mean you don't miss IE saying it needs to close when you are in the middle of doing something?

Where is the adventure in Firefox? I don't feel like I am using a PC unless something stops responding every once in a while.

I read it, I have SP2 and IE 6.0, and haven't done an upgrade in over 2 years. Its an old PC and I have no issues. How will this effect my PC?

Just updated about 5,000 computers to SP3 without issue. Use with confidence.

Also, Opera>Firefox>IE

I guess I should have asked my question a different way. If I don't install SP3 and IE 7 will MSFT zap my computer? The article mentions some kind of cut off day and leads me to believe everyone with Win XP should DL their patches. I really prefer to leave well enough alone in this case.
