Window Cleaning

I clean and dry my windows with news paper and a can of invisable glass. Surprising how little dust is on the glass when I'm done and no streaks.

I was tough that the best towl to clean windows with was a newspaper.........

The absolute best method I've found for cleaning interior glass is Meguiar's NXT Glass Cleaner, spray it on and wipe with #000 steel wool(feels almost like silk), then dry with a MF towel.

Completely eliminates all haze and streaks every time!!

Meguiar's NXT is by far the best glass cleaner i've ever used. No streaks no hazing and a fresh scent. Great product

I will definietly need to remember that, as I tend to get over enthusiastic. Stems from having it ground into me using the cheap concentrate that more is better.

Bought a bottle of Purple Power glass cleaner at AZ today, and will try it tomorrow when we go to my parents' to wash and clean the cars.

Hmmm... #000 (three-aught) steel wool? I've heard of #0000 (four-aught) being used for this but never used it myself. Is steel wool truly safe for windshields?????

Cerium Oxide and LOTS and LOTS of elbow grease is what I've used in the past 'cause I know it's safe but probably too much work.

Sprayway- great stuff.

The 0000 steel wool is safe for the glass. I used to work detailing cars from a body shop, and they'd come down with overspray on the windows sometimes, and the 0000 worked good on the spray. But I found it doesn't work very well on just cleaning a windshield normally. In my experience, that is. I'm still going to try the Bon Ami asap.

FWIW, regular windshield wiper fluid works really well. I keep some in a spray bottle and wet down the rag (old t-shirt, cloth), not the window. The trick is to get it damp enough to clean but not wet enough to leave liquid on the glass. I immediately follow up with a clean dry cloth and that's it. Any interior "haze" which may occur, especially after the vehicle sits overnight can easily be addressed with a clean cloth. I will usually keep a fresh cloth in the vehicle with me for a day or so because I don't care how hard you try, you're going to miss a spot.

OK how many people that use waded up news paper to clean their wind shields also use it to clean their computer monitor screens, TV screens and all the rest of the glass in their home?

I use Stoners Invisible Glass with regular cheap paper towels. Works perfect, then I add a coating a "Rain Block" from a spray bottle. Better than Rain*X and applies easier.

Be careful with anything with vinegar in it around the interior rear view mirror. If the mirror has a day/night lever the back of the mirror is coated with a material that will be damaged by vinegar. Do NOT use the vinegar solution on the interior mirror.
