These window AC units seem to get one year then the styrofoam block inside fills with black mold.

This despite having the filter cleaned often and being blow out cleaned and dried.

I can’t find a way to tear down to the styrofoam block, how do I keep from having to toss a unit because inaccessible areas turn to mold?

would those tablets help out that are basically bleach tablets you drop into the condensate pan. Wondering if that would stop the styrofoam from absorbing all the water? Or you could see if you could spray the styrofoam with an anti-mold or anti-mildew solution to stop that..

Ive taken the top off of several of them and just hosed them out with a garden hose. Obviously try not to spray into the motors or controls and let it sit and dry awhile before turning it back on.
