First it took a long time to set-up & sync the Mail App on my new HP Envy computer with Windows 10.

Now, for the past day or so, I open it, it "may" sync, but nothing else!

It freezes up, cannot click anywhere in it, or open anything.

"Only" thing it'll do is close, minimize or expand the screen. Yes, I power cycled it.

Anyone else? Thoughts on getting this corrected??

Honestly I would try Thunderbird mail if all else fails. That's what I put in the computer for my neighbor's son and he's loving it.

That or I should get Outlook, as I will need to buy MS Office.....

It's around $230 though. I've got lots of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint files, etc., so I have no choice but to get Office, correct?

Outlook was IMO a PITA to set up. I did another Win 10 machine yesterday and used Outlook from MS Office 2010 and Thunderbird was way easier to set up.

I also put Libre Office [it's free] for Windows in the neighbor's son's machine and it is working just fine. You might want to look into that instead of MS Office, it will read, edit, create, and save files in MS Office format. I have been using it for a few years now in a Windows 7 machine, and as I said it played nice for the kid in Windows 10.

Libre Office and Thundrebird mail are good for someone looking to set up a computer on the cheap. You won't have all the features of MS Office, but you'll have a nice machine and a lot of cash to buy oil and filters with.

Ok, since my e-life is completely upside down, just installed Thunderbird.

I'm also getting away from my paid e-mail service, as thousands of e-mails are gone.

Thank you... I'll PM you, demarpaint...

OpenOffice.org will handle all the word, excel, PP files just fine and its free.

We get Microsoft Office through the wife's employer via their home use program. Only cost $10 for the full software package.

Been using outlook for at least 5 years now and love it.

I've tried Thunderbird and thought it was clunky and not well laid out. Didn't care for Thunderbird.

Well, in speaking with demarpaint

I'm also going to try Libre Office very soon.

You normally do get what you pay for.

I've used the free Libre Office and Open Office before. Instead of those, I've found that I prefer to use the web Office apps if I don't have Office installed on the machine -- the free MS Office look-a-likes don't handle anything other than very simple and basic formatting in a Word docx or a PowerPoint pptx.

Glad to hear it. I think you'll like Libre Office too. If you're like me it will handle anything you throw at it. I have Office 2010 and Libre Office on two different machines. I haven't found anything I could do in Office that I couldn't do with Libre Office. If you do have a problem you can always do it online like Hokiefyd said.
