will there be an affordable vision system for aircraft?

Let me add this - focusing on the wrong thing as a solution to a problem is, in many ways, worse than doing nothing.

It is certainly more expensive, but the wrong approach also takes resources away from the better approach, and ultimately, impedes progress.

Exactly correct.

While I firmly believe that there are mechanical solutions to certain common safety problems, technically advanced aircraft seem not to fare any better statistically. Many of us love to make fun of the FAA, however they know the problems with TAA quite clearly.

I stand by my statement, flying light aircraft in bad weather, even ones like the PC-12 that are "all weather" rated, is asking for trouble.

It is no mystery to me, when they sometimes fall out of the sky shortly after entering less than favorable conditions.

I've mentioned this before but the PC-12's single nose mounted engine has 2 exhaust stacks and prop swirl (helical discharge) directs only the RH exhaust over the RH wing root. Guess which wing has no fuel tank icing???? This can cause uncontrolability issues in some situations. Both from external and internal ice. In the pic you can see the LH exhaust pattern avoids the wing.

Modern airliners are very intelligently designed. And a great many of the problems have been addressed. That's just not so with light aircraft.
