I finally got around to changing the seals on my hydroboost pump. I dont see a puddle of oil next to the driverside tire anymore on my dodge cummins. Boy do the brakes work so much better now! Anyways, the oil would basically leak right on the starter and thats where the the crank sensor is..right behind the starter. I wonder if maybe the connector plug got a ton of oil on it or something and caused my crank no start the day. The mechanic never found anything wrong. Started up for him I dont think oil would hurt the sensor itself because it has an oring

Generally, any sensor like that is a sealed component and not affected by outside fluids. Obviously, any quality defect would compromise the intent.
