Will Drano Max solve my issue?

Well, wife forgot the baking soda tonight, so no trying that out just yet.

I am getting ready to go into work now. We are sharing the Expedition, ATM.

All great suggestions so far.

I've had the best luck with Crystal Draino on clogs. That's weird your kitchen sink water comes out muddy as well. I wonder if there's some tree roots or something invading your house's plumbing?

No, you are most certainly not a DIY'er. You need your hand held for even the most simple things any real DIY'er would be able to figure out for themselves.

Wrong! Certainly am. If I dont call someone to do it for me, I am a DIYer.

I also never unclogged a drain, so I ask for help. Kill me.

And your negative attitude makes me laugh.

Someone pee in your Cheerios this morning? .

I have a problem with my bathroom sink plugging up every few months. Not sure why as it's a sink mainly used for washing hands and shaving.

I live in an apartment, but I don't like the maintenance people in my apartment - afraid of them letting the cat out. The only two times I asked them to repair plumbing issues, they screwed up. That's beside the point.

What I do for my bathroom sink is, get all of the water out first. Then I pour in some baking soda and let it sit for a bit to soak in.

Next, I take this opportunity to clean my coffee pot with vinegar (makes it quicker!). Allows me to kill two birds with one stone - heat up the vinegar and clean my coffee maker Once I have a pot full of hot vinegar, I slowly pour it in the sink and let it go to work. Always makes it work great!

I pull the stopper and plug the drain at the top of the bowl with my hand so the pressure can work its way past. I continue to pour in more baking soda and more heated vinegar and it works great!

Since I cook / trim a lot of raw chicken / meat, I also use the baking soda and vinegar trick to keep the garbage disposal clean and from smelling.

Everyone has good suggestions so far. I thank everyone.

I will probably try the baking soda and (white distilled?) vinegar before anything.

I do not have much more to add until I post that result..

Jeez, ask for help on a "help me" forum and people bite your head off. What a world.

And now... we wait.

After 5 minutes, it seems better already. 3/4 a box!

Let us see what the night will bring. Full Moon, as well.

Let me know the science behind that sodium bicarbonate + vinegar. It looks like it only puts on a show to me. (CO2 bubbles).

There's science behind sodium hydroxide - it breaks the strong disuphide bonds in hair and saponifies fat into soap. Expthermic reaction, which can help with the fat. Aluminum shavings in Red Devil Lye help stir up stagnant water. There's also some anti-corrosives added to help protect metal drains.

A GearheadTool and his money are soon parted. So I take it GearheadTool / TechnoLoGs / JCCADILLACMOBILE and whatever other aliases he has used is back now as MalfunctionProne?

Clogged drain photos - nice. At least these are better than pictures of morbidly obese women in swimsuits. When can we expect cellphone videos of the Expedition doing an Italian Tuneup?

The baking soda may not un-do the drain. It is minorly improved. I asked myself if it is the design of the drain.

In these bathroom-type situations, most times it's your hair..... falling from atop your head and from shaving.

technolog, or whoever you are -- your op was written early morning of 1-4, so the clog had to be there sometime late 1-3.three days on a drain clog. you must need a shower by now.
seriously -- you say that the kitchen sink is the same as the tub. possibly, some garbage has gathered in the kitchen trap, but it's not likely to happen at the same time. there must be a clog in the drain beyond where the tub and kitchen sink are attached to the main drain.a snake is likely needed.
call the landlord, if you don't have access to a snake.
when this is fixed, go to a buck store or a hardware and buy a strainer made for this purpose. it should be from 2 to 5 bucks. the landlord will gladly pay for this.as well, some preventive maintenance just makes sense -- drain cleaner in all of the traps every 2 months. in your case, seeing that wad of hair -- once a month.the landlord will be happy to pay for this,as well, since he won't have to come back for this reason.
stop "yapping" so much on the net, and get this fixed. three days -- and take a shower. good luck.
