Different thread, won't work with the Chevy. I've used the Ford filters in Nissans and Toyotas!
 
make sure they are equal in other ccharacteristics:
unDummy: the ph3682 depends on the relief valve in the engine or adapter. It has none. The ph3600 has it's own relief valve... don't know if the pressure are the same. they also use a different sized gasket, so you don't have the same seal.
Scot P: the ph47 has metric threads and the ph52 has 1" threads. They use different gaskets, and the ph47 has an anti-drain valve that the ph52 does not have. so if you put the ph52 horizonally, or on top, it will drain dry.

Visiting the fram site shows that the ph3600 and ph3682 use the same gasket. Visiting a department store shows that both filters are identical except for length. They even have the same stamping "2C" on the threaded end and gaskets swapped perfectly because they were the same.
I know that the bypass is included in the ph3600 and this has not been an issue. Think of it as additional engine insurance since most internal engine block ball&spring oil filter bypasses get stuck/clogged on poorly maintained engines.

The pf47 and pf52 share the same metric 18mm threads. The only visual difference was that the pf52 was longer. Alot of people would have stripped their oil filter mounts if the PF52 was a standard 1". Since some of the PF52 competitors have ABDVs, it would be safe to assume that it does also.

I thought the 3682 had a bypass valve just like the AC PF20 or a Fram PH43, or a Motorcraft FL300 that it replaced, just putting a smaller sized filter in place of larger sized filters for generic sized benefits...I'll have to check (again) next time I go in there. If it does not have a bypass that means that anyone who starts using it does not have a bypass at all...not a good thing.
It's ok to have an extra bypass, whichever opens first gets the job, but to not have one at all....tick tick tick.clackity clack clack...

The AC PF52 (St3980) DOES have an anti-back-flow valve, it DOES NOT have a internal bypass.. because the Chevy truck oil filter mount has a built-in bypass just before the filter
 
My information comes from a CD provided quarterly by Luber-Finer (Champion Labs), so maybe what we've found is that not all cross reference charts are the same? The Baldwin site you mention agrees with the Luber-Finer CD, at least on the PH52 and 47. It doesn't have the 3600 or 32682.
 
Howdy folks, I just went to Waldo World and I did look at the st3682, just eyball check mind you.
It at least does not have the same type of bypass as those other filters that use those small holes at the bottom of the can and the pop-top type of bypass...maybe it has a different design but I can't see anything....Either way I'm not using them....I'm sticking with the Fl300
