A lot of collectors and hobby oriented people find that their hobby has a price. Things must be paid for and stored. When a person loses interest, those things must be sold. If a person passes on, those same items need to be sold off by the executor of the estate. For some heirs, that process is not very convenient.
Motor oil and allied hobbies cost next to nothing. Most of them are constantly in use so unless one is very into the hobby, there is no huge collection of items to ever get rid of. Motor oil by its very nature circulates through the system. Its shelf life is defined by its usage. Besides this, the subject is interesting and evolves constantly. There are always new things to talk about.
I also should say that more than once, I have sold some to buddies of mine, or gave it free, if they had a need.
What is your take on this?
