On Craigslist, of all the cars posted, 3/4 of them DON'T have a price listed (especially used car stealers)? I don't care how much I like it, if there's no price listed - you're shady, and I'm just skipping the ad.

I only look at cars by private sellers on CL. Most of the ones by dealers are near a military base by me and they sell to kids that just enlisted. They never list a price, just something like $50 down and $199 a month.
Many dealers don't list prices on used cars, either online or on the Monroney. It's not that big a problem; just do your research and figure out what it's worth.
I hate this also... if you want to know the price, you have to call them so they can run your credit. HA I'll pass.

No reason for that. If a dealer won't quote a price without running your credit, walk.

The overall price isn't what low end buyers are looking for. The buy here pay here places cater to people who only care about the down payment and weekly or monthly payments after that.
No its not, they do it on Autotrader all the time with new cars, its called advertising.
Anyone who is looking for a $1500 vehicle is a potential customer. They have limited means and possible are not financially savvy. So why buy an older car for $1,500 when you get get into a nice shiny late model one for $1,500 today! With only $100 a week coming out of your paycheck! Your FICO is below 500? No problem, we approve everyone!
Find a way to give people what they want, and make them pay you for it. This is why Rent A Centers, pawn shops, and check cashing places are in low income areas. They provide financial services to the unbanked.
