Remember the chase scene in "Bullitt"? You too can drive like that in a rental.

Coming to a dealer near you soon as a "program" or "executive" car.

With all the generation Y video, onStar and GPS stuff, you'd be a fool to try some of these stunts. In the event of a wreck/claim, there's ample electronic evidence to show driver negligence.

Too bad we can't see the road sign as it's skewed by the sunlight:

The guy in that Escalade think he's the bomb. He's nothing compared to this 400+KM/hr car:

I bet you can't get away with that stuff where you rent exotics. they go over those cars with mirrors over every inch

When I worked at the Olds dealership, I drove a repo'd Ciera International Series and that car was pretty amazing. A 3800 in a car much lighter than a 98 / 88 / Bonneville was a lot of tire smokin' fun. Some high school kid probably picked it up for a song if he knew what he was looking at.

I always thought of putting a Bonneville SSEi motor under the hood. It's almost a bolt-in. That first raise that put the Impala within my reach eliminated those plans.

I had great luck with my old '98 Nissan Altima that was an ex-rental car in California. Only little things, like the alternator needed rebuilding right before I sold it. Other than that, it never gave me a single problem in the 2 years I had it. Must've gotten lucky :)

I absolutely loved my '90 Ciera Special Edition. Still kicking myself in the arshe for selling it two years ago. I had recently seen it on the road and it's still running. My Dad bought a pre-rented Lincoln Towncar back in the mid 80's and I dogged him about it. He finally asked me just who in the #ell rents Lincolns? I thought about it for a minute and then shut my mouth. He got about 200K miles out of that thing before he traded it in for a new Lincoln. You know, they quit making them this year?

Back in the 60's there was a special edition Mustang made for Hertz only with a performance 289 engine. Customers who owned v-8 Mustangs would rent the car for the weekend and swap engines out from the Hertz car to theirs. Since the engines were identical visually, no one was the wiser.

I bought a Hertz rental car, A 2000 Olds Intrigue and it was a great car, It had 29,000 miles and was only a year and a half old. Needless to say, I got a great deal on it. We ran it a 100,000 with minimal trouble and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another if the deal was right. I always shop for program cars when we car shop and have great luck.
