What are the disadvantages to draining a dry sump system when cold? Ambient temps are 90 degrees for reference. Vehicle holds about a quart in the crankcase and 8 quarts in the tank. As far as I am aware, the lines/hoses will have oil in them no matter which method is used.

I don't think it matters that much. I always drain the oil cold and refill with however much it says to fill with 
Any debris in your oil will settle to the bottom of the tank holding it, when cold. And tends to stay suspended in the oil. when hot.,,
Hot oil holds potential deposits in suspension better. The varnish and sludge you can find inside engines is created in and from the oil, but stays in suspension until the oil cools down.
So when the oil is hot you get more of them out (potentially). But if the oil is far enough from done this doesn't matter.
Measure to see if there's a difference in the amount which drains.
The bottom of the tank is where the drain plug is.
Oil has been in the car for 2 years but it has a large volume and only 1400 miles on it. No track time, just street driving. It is a turbo car though, oil was darker than my Ram typically shows at these miles.
On some engines, the dry sump oil tank is elevated. It will drain into the engine over time. Failure to drain it shortly after shutdown could leave plenty of dirty oil in the engine.
Most plugs I've seen are on the side of the oil pan. If you've ever taken an oil pan off an engine, you will more that likely find sludge and varnish spread out on the bottom of the pan. Metal particles love to get stuck in that stuff. If you don't believe me, I don't care.,,
The crankcase has a drain plug as well. About a quart came out. I'm not that worried about it with such low miles and not being on the track, just curious about the hot drain.
