I know that certain individuals on this site like to hijack posts and get offensive in their responses, but why lock a good debateable thread because of one individual? Can't the moderators just delete that part of the thread? Just wondering.
Why do topics get locked?

If a mod started surgically editing a thread his own conscious or subsconscious biases could get in. Then he'd be accused of playing favorites.
A blunt lock says, follow the rules, knock it off.
Generally if you PM the mod that did the locking he'll respond. Tersely, sometimes.

Then why did the mod who locked the thread, also see fit to comment in the thread. He had already taken sides in the argument, OT or not, why interject oneself and then lock the thread?

Like what? If you can't get silly or ask questions, then who cares of you're booted. There are lots of good forums out there.
I'm all for trying to obey the rules, but I don't think any were broken here...except the wrong forum area.

You want us to delete "just part" of the thread? Times how much? Just so the members can do it again?
If someone (and it's hardly just one) in a thread goes past the rules locking it up with a warning is what is going to be done by this mod. If the thread is damaged early and someone lets us now EARLY then yes, there is a chance to "clean" it up . But once we get notified or find it surfing its past "cleaning" it up. So it gets a lock.
So we had many members COMPLAIN that we just locked them up with out commenting. That ticked off the members. So then we go ahead and let people know why and everyone is STILL ticked off. So I'll just go back to the locking it without comment (its a lot easier)
Let me help you, Follow the RULES and the threads don't get locked up. Respect others and the threads don't get locked up. Also a side benefit is you will not get time off from the board.
But since you'd like to know now you do. Any other comments? Normally I say PM me but you decided not too...
Love the respect from others towards me in this thread..
