This reminds me of some other Craigslist tactics.
I don't give out my number, I give out a Google voice number than I can turn on and off. That way, someone doesn't call me at 3am asking if I still have the left handed wind-shifter for sale.
I get an e-mail with Google's attempt at translating the speech to text and a link to listen to the voice mail.
I can click a link and call them back.
I can also setup my gMail to "use" the temporary address Craigslist sets up when you list something. So instead of replying as javaContour I can reply as br549-craigslist-sale.... whatever
So there are some things you can do to help preserve you anonymity until you actually wade through the flotsam and jetsam to find a quality buyer.
