This filter is on a 2002 Suburban, 5.3L. It has the number 31 on it. The most recent sticker for an oil change is from a Valvoline shop 2 years ago, but the oil looks too clean to be that old.

Appears to be a Purolator from my view point. Looks like you have a leak. Have the same motor in my '99 Silverado, I degreased the entire under carriage when I thought I had a leak. Come to find out I did not and someone was careless when adding oil, over the years and it just needed a good cleaning!

Blue Mountain it is, a new one to me. Not sure who makes it but Peak motor oil is made by Valvoline so perhaps that is the 2 year old filter.

Ruh?

Peak = Old World Industries (don't know who makes the oil)

Zerex is the Ashland (Valvoline parent) antifreeze brand, but maybe Ashland also supplies motor oil to the competition for the right price.

Sorry, I'm over complicating this. I was saying that Valvoline makes the Peak oil (google returned some forum talk saying that, but it seems that it is actually WPP) and Blue Mountain is the Peak brand filter, so maybe it was from the 2 year old change on the sticker.

The back story is that I picked up a Suburban that has had the odometer/indicator not working for 2-3 years. So mileage, and what was done when is unknown. I got the impression they'd been driving it but the oil change sticker was so old yet the oil so clean that it didn't add up.

Obviously it's time for a oil/filter change.

Treat your Suburban to a nice Pennzoil/Wix spa treatment.

Sounds like it needs it.
