I am curious as to who manufactures JD oil filters. I have a 2010 Z720A with a kohler and have always run the stock filter. Does anyone run anything other than a JD oil filter?

I believe the OEM filters are Champ. Just changed the oil in my 425 today, had a Motorcraft on it and now it has a Fram Ultra on it.

If it's just a standard 3/4" thread, use any Super Tech ST3682 or Fram TG3682, XG3682.
Even a Motorcraft FL-400S.

I run these on my outdoor power equipment, and even my 80 cubic inch Harley Softail.

A Fram 3614 or 3600 also works...

OEM 2 inches long
3614 3 1/2 inches
3600 5 inches

Got a blue STP 3600 and Rotella T5 running on a Craftsman LT2000....

Fun thing is, if your mower requires 56 ounces, the 3600 holds 8 more, so you can just dump in 2 quarts, presto, done...

My old LX178 with the Kawasaki 2-cylinder water cooled engine came from the factory with a John Deere labeled Fram filter. The Fram filter was made in Canada and is the exact version that fits a Geo Prizm.

I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know that I can buy a compatible oversized automotive filter at half the price. I've been running Wix 51348 on my John Deere with the B&S 724cc V-Twin. Going forward I may switch to some variant of the Fram PH-3614 as these are readily available at Walmart. I might just go with the XG-3614 and change it every other year, given that I am only logging about 30 hours per year now.

I've noticed a lot of the bright yellow "Briggs & Stratton" have been e-core also.
