When you and your spouse or you and your girlfriend/boyfriend to for a drive, who does the driving.

My wife has probably driven no more than 10 miles with me in the car or the motorhome since we met 18 years ago.

Mostly me for distance work and general stuff.

She does if I've had a beer or two. Plus that school deliveries etc.

Exactly..same here. We try to have her drive more on our frequent 340 mile trips to WV. It works for both of us. Also she drives at night. Night vision is going to he**.

Exactly the opposite for me. My wife could be termed a control freak ..but it's from the other end of it. She feels anxiety if she's not behind the wheel. I don't care. Now if she's had something to drink ...I'm the designated driver.

This includes most long distance runs. The one exception that I can remember is when a reman CV joint decided to wobble on the way to NuWingland. She's also a auto-hypochondriac

I told her to relax and I took over driving. She's also a carrier for hypertension when she drives locally. I'm leisurely driving along ..and it drives her nuts. She's ..well ..not speeding ..but getting where ever she's going in a high intensity manner.

We obviously don't have a traditional marriage in this respect. Most women are happy to numb out as a passenger ..most men are not. She can't numb out as a passenger. I can't either. She's always telling me to look out the window.

Yes. I take a hit for the team.

My wife does. She loves driving and even loves rowing her 5 speed manual in rush hour traffic.

My wife does a lot of the driving when the neck is acting up. For a while there, I could just drive only to work and back. She drove all the way to Oregon and back when the neck first blew out. My wife is truly a blessing. She's a great driver and never complains.

Lately though...honestly we rarely ride in the same car, maybe once every two weeks. Just as the kids get older, I get more busy, wife doing sub jobs, all the church activities, sports.....man we just go opposite directions.

When we're at my place, I drive. When I'm at my g/f's place, she drives most of the time. She won't touch my car because it's manual.

I'm all about equal treatment. My wife drives half way long trips, I drive the way back. Plus, to avoid putting miles on the new car warranty, I told her she would have to ride in my 96 Sunfire if she wants me to drive. works everytime

I can't remember the last time that my wife willingly got behind the wheel of our car, and she won't touch the Dodge at all (too big). But, even when she did drive, I still did 99.5% of the driving. Kind of ticks me off then, that she has an opinion about my maintenance habits on the vehicles then, since she never uses them...

I do and always have done 98% of driving. She will drive when I have drank a little, but other than that if we are going somewhere together I am the chauffeur and she couldnt be happier that way. She also dosent ever drive my truck because its a manual. I tried to teach her and she does fine on back roads. When its time to get around traffic she trips all over herself.

We used to split it more. After a couple of accidents on her part, she has gladly let me take over. I love it. It always drove me crazy to be a passenger. However, I have noticed that now that I am almost never a passenger, I am horrible at it the times that I become one. I'm a panicky mess. I think I need counseling.
