Who does everyone use for homeowners/auto?

Shopping around for home and auto and am curious who people are using. I tried Costco but they wouldn’t do the house. Amica was double what I’m currently paying on the house and the same price for auto.

I review insurance every year or two. I try to stay with high-reputation companies.

I was with Allstate for a while, then switched to Farmers. Farmers raised the rates on me and I switched to American Family, but I missed the service I got from my Farmers agent, and after they absorbed MetLife they were able to give me a better rate, so I am back with Farmers now.

I have been insured with Erie for years. Have been unable to beat their pricing.
Don't know if they are available where you are or not.
Find a good independent agent/broker and get an array of pricing from different companies.

This will vary highly by region.

Currently with state farm for home and auto.. no one else can beat the combined rate by 50$(per 6month)
Farmers... UGH.
HORRIBLE experience, they were my insurance. I wasnt even at fault other guy had ERIE.
my agent was the bright spot in their organization.

Man I miss Erie but they're regional in the east. Had State Farm for 15 years, had some trouble with the local agent and switched to Allstate when we moved towns then the rates started going up and switched back to State Farm this year. I checked 6 or 7 companies and SF had the best rates. I stick with good rep companies.

I'm with Esurance for cars and house. I found their rates to be the best for my wife and I here in southern KC. I like their app and when I've had to actually call them they were friendly and able to answer my questions.

Thanks everyone.

I’ll give Erie a shot.

State Farm was $1,000+ higher on the house a year or two ago and just slightly lower on the vehicles and the house deductible was $5,000 vs the $2,500 I have now.

I don’t qualify USAA, unfortunately.

Costco uses American Family but their Costco underwriting guidelines didn’t go high enough in Missouri to cover the house. I can contact AmFam separately to get a quote.

Farmers has been the best price-wise since we moved in BUT I haven’t had to file a claim.

Had State Farm for a long time, then went to Progressive.

Went back to State Farm last year because the agents at the office we use are fantastic. So helpful and nice.

Been with State Farm for 35 now for home / auto / umbrella. Look at rates every other year or so but nobody seems to come close. Don't have too much interaction with them but we're happy enough.

Try Amica. Google them, one of the best customer satisfaction ratings.

They just don't advertise like the big idiot companies. Helps keep prices down and they have excellent customer service.

State Farm right now... If I were looking for new, I would use the services of a broker and let them find the best deal.

That’s who I got a quote from that started this thread. They were more than double my current homeowners with Farmers and the same for the autos.

Low price always wins, I check prices every year to see if I can find a better one, sometimes more than once a year and I will cancel an existing policy at any point during the policy for a better price. I dont wait until renewal time.
I dont "bundle" insurance with the same company either, I always find better prices not bundling. Biggest BS marketing I ever run across, I NEVER have been able to find a better price bundling insurance together.

1. Home = Travelers Ins
2. Cars = Esurance
3. Boat and Motorcycle = Progressive

....
Note- esurance doesn't do homes in my state so the one company I never was able to check homeowners ins.

AAA insurance going on 8 years. Switched from being with State Farm for over 25 years and immediately saved at least 1/3 on home-cars-umbrella bundle. So far so good. Only glitch was 3 years ago when they switched to a new computer system and the new system had me being single and my wife being married (Yes, I am serious).

Auto insurance renewal premium had gone up 40%. When I talked to one of AAA Insurance's retention specialist, the error was found, corrected, and the new premium only went up 2 or 3%.

So for all who are on the line about getting married, remember this, you will have lower car insurance premiums in the long run by being married! :ROFLMAO:

You've related your insurance buying philosophy before. It sounds like insurance shopping is a hobby for you that saves money not spends money. (y)

Now that's an interesting twist! Never thought of it like that! Yeah, I do other things on my computer other than BITOG ... though one might wonder when I would have that time after my insanely long posts in here! *LOL* I always show my wife how I am saving us money, all the time! Before I spend it on something else.
