"White box parts"

I try to use manufacture replacement parts as much as I can. As the vehicles get older it gets more difficult to do. I needed brakes on my 2002 F150 and my indie used Raybestos rotors. Everytime he used them they just rotted quickly and caused problems. I went to the Ford dealer and had them replace the rotors and pads. 3 months later they are scraping and need to go back to the dealer. For my 1996 Contour I ordered Motorcraft rotors from Rock Auto. The rotors came in a "white box" with a Motorcraft label on it, made in China

. I guess we don't make much in this country anymore. By the way these rotors cost $44 each. Maybe I should return them and get Chinese made rotors from Advance Auto Parts for less.

all motorcraft brake parts are now made in china pads, shoes and all. I used to see a mix but quit buying motorcraft when all they do is put china parts in a china box with a mtorcraft extra price. just another importer of china parts. I'm sure the dealer uses the same stuff just charges more.

FWIW Motorcraft Rotors are not OEM. There is a difference in brake parts comparing Motorcraft to Genuine Ford.

Odd, most of the Motorcraft stuff I buy is made in Mexico, LOL.

Depressing nonetheless.

Are the OEM Ford brake parts made in one of the Americas, north or south?

Almost all of the Raybestos line (which is just a name,owned by Brake Parts Inc that also markets NAPAs United line) is now Chinese made.Wheel Cylinders,hardware,rotors.I guess pads and shoes are the only things not China sourced.Raybestos (BPI) used to make the hardware here,and their wheel cylinders here too (not their former 2nd line safety-stop,those were made in Italy),but obviously the lure of big profits has made them make the switch.

The better line Car Quest rotors (can't remember if their "red" line or "blue" line is their better one) are made in USA or Canada, depending on the exact product. At least last I knew. I've used them and have liked them.

There isn't one foundry left that makes Brake rotors for the aftermarket in the US. It is what it is...

Rotors are too heavy to ship in most cases from places like RockAuto. Maybe from Amazon with free shipping. Good pads (from RockAuto) and decent NAPA rotors. At least with NAPA, the retail part of the profits stay local even if you buy Chinese rotors. Ten years from now we will be complaining about rotors from Cambodia or Viet Nam and wishing we could get some of those "good" Chinese rotors.

It is frustrating when you want good quality parts for your vehicle and not made in china. OE parts, the real ones and not just OE brand, can be pretty expensive and aren't necessarly made in USA. Raybestos does have 3 lines of brake parts and rotors with the top line rotors painted. Maybe the Indie was using the entry level or at best PG? As far as I know all aftermarket rotors are made in china.

Depends on the part number. I have seen USA, Brazil, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy and Poland, Australia, Germany and China on Ford OEM brake parts. It really depends who the vendor is. A lot are from Brembo, some Varga, some Bosch, some from PBR.

I'm running Raybestos white box rotors an my Legend. The fronts have ~44k miles on them. The rears, I just installed and only have ~600 miles on them.

Kind of too early to tell how they hold up, but so far so good. I don't think I paid more than $15-$20 a piece for them. I bought them years ago from Rock Auto and installed them as needed.

The Econolines/Club Wagons of my past seemed to warp rotors almost instantly. These include the factory installed, dealer replacements and aftermarket rotors.

The Brembo rotors that I installed in my old Camry were no different. Probably installer error.

I have dealt with plenty of "Made In Canada" MOPAR rotors that warp more easily than premium rotors from China.
