22 HP B&S Twin in a 42" John Deere. I'm running 10w30 PP and wonder if there might be a better over-the-counter 10w30 oil that would be better? Ed

I like Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W30 better for air cooled engines since it carries a more robust additive package with the higher allowable limits of ZDDP that the API SL rating allows.

+1 T5 Rotella will also work.

I am currently running 10W30 Mobil 1 EP in the same engine, but the advice above seems to have some merit. At present the oil and filter have only 9 running hours on them, but the oil still looks like new.

The EP 10w30 is still going to treat that engine very well, can't really go wrong with any flavor of Mobil 1 10w30 for OPE.

Let's go out on a limb here and speculate that the OP wants to reduce the variety of oils in his garage. I can relate to that, having a good supply of two oils not in my signature plus another three lying around. A discussion of strategy to minimize automotive and OPE lubricants may be in order.

Yes, I realize that there are many of them to be found here...

I run M1 Euro 0w-40 in my air cooled OPE and the oil looks good after extended use. It has a very nice add pack and a 40wt will work great for air cooled applications like yours.

Either or, plus a half bottle of LM MoS2
