I change the oil in my 2014 Fusion with the 2.5 spring and fall. I don't get many miles on it but it gets LOTS of short trips, so change it often. In my stash I have 5/20 and 0/30 M1 and 5/20 motorcraft oils. Which would be the preferred oil to put in now for summers use? I am thinking the 0/30, but maybe I am all wet.

I looks like you're using a good oil in that car right now. In the summer OIC I'd just go to 5w30 QSUD because its just more reasonably priced than M1 but this summer I'd used the M1 0w-30 you say you have on hand.

Actually I have used either Quaker, or M1, or Motorcraft, interchangeably since new. And I simply want to know of the ones I have on hand which would be best for the summer and which the best for next fall.

What oil do you normally use in it in the winter? Use it.

Of the choices, M1 0W30. I'd probably stick with it year round too if those were my choices.

I use PUP 0W20 or 5W20 year round in my 2011 Fusion with the 2.5. I've gone as far as 17.2k so far on OCI, and wear metals are far below universal averages on a per-thousand-mile basis. I'm not changing oils anytime soon regardless of the season.

Since you change it often....

I would use any SN rated 10W-30.

Save the synthetic until winter hits.

Yep, and it makes one wonder how the other company can claim they are the maker of "The world’s leading synthetic car engine oil" when their oils consistently show "Above average wear metals" in their oil?

I know they are the leader when it comes to price so maybe that's what they mean?

5w-20 for now. Save the 0w-30 for Winter.

Your OM has an oil viscosity chart with temps. Best to follow it.

I'd use the M1 but it really doesn't matter. All are great oils that will perform well!

The Op was asking about summer oil. What part of Nebraska gets snow in the summer Marco620?

0w in the summer! That's winter oil! Your engine is going to clatter and metal will stretch.

Seriously, anything less than 15w40 is unacceptable.
