Currently at 5500 miles (going for 6500 and a used oil analysis) on the old 96 Saturn with Pennzoil 5w-20 SM dino. There's a few oils in my stash that I'd like to use. Help me "flip the coin" on one of these:

--Pennzoil 5w-20 Platinum synth
--Quaker State 5w-20 Synthetic (blue-label)
--Pennzoil Platinum 10w30 synth
--Castrol 5w30 High Mileage

I'm foregoing the usual 15w-50 hot-weather run this summer as I've gotten used to the free-revving of the lighter oils.

Your input??

Use the SOPUS-family first - since you already have it in your sump. Start with thickest one (10W-30). The last one I would use would be the Castrol.

I don't have that one in stock.

I think a comparison of Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 with the dino would be interesting, but if you push it hard the 10w30 may be the way to go. It would be interesting to see if the synthetic 5w20 thickens much in the summer heat, but you probably don't feel like experimenting with your car. Go for the 10w30 unless you're feeling brave or want to drive easy for fuel economy (what the heck at $3/gal it might be a great time to try it.)
