Which oil for mixing with VSOT?

Which oil would be best for mixing with VSOT?

I've concluded that VSOT is a cost efficient way for have a high moly content in my honda. Using redline in my oil burner simply is NOT cost efficient.

(Isn't it odd that the additives with 'moly' in the title contain less moly than VSOT?

Which oil shall i use to mix with VSOT? I want to go heavy on the moly but don't want to go heavy on the calcim, phosphorus & zinc. I'm thinking that the ideal would be an oil that doesn't have any add pack whatsoever. That would eliminate the possibility of me goofing up the existing chemistry. (there wouldn't be any existing chemistry) Do they make a cheap 20W50 non-detergent oil?

Or does someone know of another way that i can get a cheap high-moly oil for my somker?

Have you thought about just using havoline or
Pennzoil, both of those have a pretty good amount of moly. But to answer your question I would think Walmarts brand would have one of the weakest add packs.

Why not use Maxlife Blend? Has typical sm GF-4 levels of zinc and phosphorus, though a bit heavy on calcium. And has 300 ppm moly. Wouldn't need to add anything, but could add half a bottle VSOT.

I wish there was an additive that was straight moly mixed in with oil. That way i wouldn't have to worry about doubling up on the other ingredients.

Then there is Redline. VOAs show somewhere upwards of 1200 ppm zinc and phosphorus along with over 600 ppm moly. But again high calcium, about 2400 ppm.

I would think that any store brand oil like ST, AAP, ProLine, Spectrum etc. would be a good candidate for VSOT. Oils that you are unsure about in their add package.

Whoops, you already said Redline is not an option. Char Baby is right on. Use whatever is lowest cost since it is burning oil. If you want to go family, use Valvoline Premium Conventional, picked up on sale.

I would try Motorcraft, Valvoline or Castrol... in that order.

I'm thinking if I went the VSOT route, I'd mix it with Valvoline conventional in order to stave off any possible additive clash. That may be totally over cautious but I don't know. I'd use the entire body of VSOT too and not just a few ounces. Wal-Mart has Valvoline conventional for around $9.00 for a 5 quart bottle.
