which gas station gives you highest mpg

V-power generally gets 5-8% higher mileage in my STi and SRT-4. Not sure why, but it consistently works!

Holiday seems to do best for me, but that won't apply to you if your outside MN.

Lately it seems that Shell regular gives me better mpg than Mobil, Exxon or Gulf that I also use

but even then it varies.

i only use top tier gasolines like chevron, shell or 76....

although my car loves mobil gasoline...i mean it loves it

Based on many years of meticulous data, my best fuel mileage, like T-keith, is on Holiday gasoline. Of course, outisde of Minnesota / upper midwest, you've probably never heard of it. Shell also seems to provide decent fuel mileage in my vehicles.

As to the comment that all gasolines must meet federal spec and should be close, that also would apply to motor oil! As we've seen, there are many ways to acheive the same result, and some work better than others.

In this market, Holiday gasoline can reliably be counted on to be from one refinery, and thus its constency in fuel mileage is not a surprise...

Same here. I have a '05 Mazda3 with the 2.3L (and 5spd) and get better than the advertised EPA ratings. I have the Shell Mastercard so I get 5% rebates on all gas purchases. It makes it cheaper than any of the cheap no-name gas stations around.

In NW PA, my Jeep (4.0) likes BP 87. I wouldnt mind using shell, but it is always about $.10 more per gallon. Citgo (and they are everywhere!) makes my Jeep run rough...

When I was in VA, my older Jeep (with the 4.0) ran the got the best mileage from Chevron or shell 87, but ran smoother on the Chevron.

Of the brands we have readily available around here, Tulsa, QuikTrip by far gives me the best results. Phillips 66/Conoco is firmly in second though.

Honestly the gas choices around here have usually been pretty slim. We probably have more Citgo stations than anything else since their US HQ was formally here. Their gas sucks though. S-U-C-K-S!!!! Lately we have been getting more Shell stations, and they seem ok but are always more expensive than everyone else. Sinclair is ok in a pinch. Also have a few Shamrock stations but I have yet to try their gas.

When using like Shell V-power how can you justify the cost of the higher octane vs the lower ones like 87? I mean, does it save you that much more compared to 87 vs 93? The cost of 93 octane is rediculous!! (compared to 87 that is) Do you wind up paying the same or is 87 the better choice. I am using Shell BTW.

I can never find any difference in milage in the short term but, wonder if deposits from economy stations gas may lead to lower gas millage. Volvo and other manufactures did a study and found that some gasoline additives work better on some deposits and vise versa. Their recomendation was "to not buy gas of one brand consistantly but switch from brand to brand" which is what I do.

I find Sunoco gives me the best mpg, but BP/Amoco isn't too far behind and it performs the best in my cars.
