Hello fellow light duty diesel drivers. I have a 2024 Silverado 3.0 Duramax. I'm an Amsoil user and am wondering if I can use the Signature Series 0-20 or 5-20 oil instead of the Amsoil diesel 0-20 oil.

If you are an Amsoil user, you know what to use.! 0W-20 Diesel from Amsoil, how many oils does Amsoil have?

Use a licensed oil that meets the requirements listed in your owners manual, don't experiment, don't put your warranty at risk.

Amsoil has 2 oils that meet DexosD one in 0W-20 and another in 5W-30. 0W-20 is spec but I would guess you could go with 5W-30 if you really wanted to.

Myself, I went with the HPL 0W-20D when they had the last sale

But Yes stick with oils that are designed for Diesels, they have very different requirements than a gas engine.

5w-30 Amsoil SS with that milage,,good oil for your application
It’s unqualified comments like this that you need to look out for. Be sure to use the oil that meets the specifications of the manufacturer. That being said AMSOIL advises what products works for your application and that’s what you should use. I have several customers that use AMSOIL in these trucks and they’re pleased. Just wish AMSOIL had an oil filter….

If it were my truck I would use the HD diesel 10w30. I never used the Dexos 2 in my 2.8 canyon.

If you are scared about warranty use the Mobil 1 esp 5w30 or 0w40.

opps ,i meant Amsoil diesel engine oil in the 5w-30 viscosity,,product code,DP530QT-EA,would work fine, just a notch higher viscosity, or they also have the 0w-20 Diesel engine oil too. if warranty is a concern and may well be the best overall for fuel milage improvement and oil pressure considerations.

I used Amsoil's 0W-20 Diesel oil for a little while. My latest oil change was with HPL's PP 0W-20D. Going to do a UOA on it when I hit 5k miles on the oil.

I have a UOA of Amsoil's Diesel oil in the UOA section.

Mobil 1 ESP X2 0w-20 while under warranty or another oil with the Dexos D approval. Walmart carries the Mobil 1 for $32/5 qt jug and Walmart also sells the appropriate AC Delco filters.

I think you only had 1100 miles on the Amsoil UOA and the engine was still breaking in? Be difficult to compare HPL to Amsoil unless you do a similar test with Amsoil afterwards….

I'm planning on it. I'm going to run the HPL 0W-20D one more time after this to get that full flush of any residual Amsoil left in there now and get another UOA. Then I'll switch back to the Amsoil. It's cheaper and easier to get than the HPL.
