Castrol Syntec or Valvoline Durablend.
I know a lot of you are going to say Motorcraft but I am asking about these two.

Darkdan: I didn't realize that Durablend had a skimpy additive package like All-Climate. I thought that Durablend was a better oil. Thanks

Just curious, since the Motorcraft 5W-20 is the least expensive and appears to be the a better oil than either the Castrol Blend or Valvoline Durablend why would you use them? But having said that and given the choice of the two I'd go for the Castrol Blend. It seems to work well as a blend. Possibly even better than Syntec if you're going to keep to 5,000 OCI's. Valvoline seems to put it's money into advertising instead of product improvement/development it seems.

Because I already have them. The Durablend was free after rebate and the Syntec was 1.99 qt. on sale at RS Strauss in NYC. My wifes 01' Accord seems to like the 1.29 a qt Exxon Superflo. Does anyone know what percent Gr.11 or 111 it is?

Either will work fine. Since you already have both those oils on hand use them both. When it comes time to purchase more oil look at the Motorcraft 5W-20 and Havoline 5W-20. Both seem to work real well. The Motorcraft was a Group II and Group III. The Havoline was a Group II+. With the SM rated oils that may change for the better.

Both are pretty good. I have been using Valvoline in a 89 Honda Prelude and have 217,000 miles on it without burning any oil (yet).

I run MC 5W-20 in my '03 Sable 3.0L, '03 2500 Ram 5.7L(HEMI) and my '89 Honda, 2.0L... I switched from M1 0W-40 in the Honda and Dodge to MC..

I think they just run better..

Kinda a moot point then. Use them both.
