is there a site or anywhere universal that lists the fluid types and capacities in a vehicle specific format? especially tranny fluid and power steering. for example, my grandmothers car has a tranny leak... anywhere i can just type in her vehicle and the correct fluid type and possibly amount come up? would be handier than searching google

Aside from an owners manual or an internet search I have no idea where you'd find such a list. Subscribed.

me either... would be nice just to book mark a site on my phone or ipad so i can just have a reference handy.

If there's an unbiased list, not a list pushing a company and their products someone here will know about it. If it exists I'd like to bookmark it myself.

Very often now using a google search, one can easily locate the specific online owners manual for the vehicle. I do it often here (bitog) when someone asks a question or needs information about fluids, capacities, maintenance intervals etc. etc., and I'm not that familiar with said vehicle.

Also Amsoil has a capacities and fluids look up which is quite comprehensive. Try it in link for a vehicle of your choice.

Most vehicle manufacturers have a couple decades worth of owner's manuals available on their websites. I looked at Subaru and Toyota last week.

Each brand typically uses the same kinds and types of fluids across their vehicles.
So an owner's manual form another vehicle of the same brand would list the correct fluids.
High performance and special use vehicles being a possible exemption. (highbreds).

What kind of car? Most carmakers have the owner's manual for all of their cars on their website.

I haven't found a better and easier one online for fluids and capacities (and filters) data on 'all' makes/models in one place. It gives the spec fluid, then lists some Amsoil options for that spec. But the latter imo not so obtrusive it takes away from the information. Capacities and other specs listed below the fluids.

Remember the first time I saw it posted on the AF board with a query about cooling system capacity. I thought then, this one is a keeper. My .02
